I've been following the Reuben Lewis III case closely, and something that stands out is the role the off-duty firefighter played on that tragic day. It's truly commendable that even while off duty, they jumped into action to try and save Reuben. It must have been an incredibly emotional and difficult experience for them, knowing the severity of the injuries and seeing the children and community members who were there. I can't even begin to imagine the courage it took to step in during such chaos and offer whatever help they could. This act of bravery amidst such a senseless act of violence reflects the best of humanity in the darkest of times. My heart goes out to the firefighter, the Lewis family, and everyone else affected by this tragedy. It's a sharp reminder of not only the preciousness of life but also the pivotal importance of community heroes who, trained or not, do everything they can to protect and help others in dire situations. I hope the community around Concordia Park can eventually find some peace and healing as they continue to pay tribute to Reuben's legacy.
