Hey everyone, I've been following Jessie Lopez’s case since it first hit the news, and one part of it that just really stands out to me is the role the community is playing—or rather, not playing—in the investigation. It blows my mind how many people might have that little piece of information detectives need but are afraid or unwilling to come forward. I get it; people are scared, and the whole "snitches get stitches" mentality is hard to break, especially when it involves potential gang activity. But what about Jessie's family? I can't even imagine the pain they're still in, not having answers or justice for their son and brother. It's been over two years now, and I really believe someone out there knows something. It's just so sad that fear can overshadow doing the right thing. I've seen other cases where community involvement has made all the difference, so I’m holding onto hope. Maybe there's a way to anonymously tip the police, or maybe community leaders can step up and try to make people feel safer about speaking out. Jessie's memory deserves that much. His family deserves it. Anyone else have any thoughts on how to encourage people to come forward?
