I've been thinking a lot about the mental health aspect in cases like Felix Jerry Marquez's. It seems like there was a major gap in connecting him with the right support systems before things escalated that day. From my understanding, PSET is supposed to bridge this gap as they involve social workers along with law enforcement. But at what point do we need to reassess this approach? Are these interventions truly effective if they result in such tragic outcomes? Marquez clearly faced multiple challenges, including homelessness and substance abuse, yet he was approached with force rather than with the help he might have desperately needed. I can't help but wonder if more proactive mental health resources could have made a difference. It’s devastating to think about his potential for a better path being cut short this way. My heart goes out to his family and anyone who cared about him. I hope that ongoing discussions lead to real change in how similar situations are handled in the future.
