Does anyone else find it strange how Leonard Lee Colvin was still on parole for a previous voluntary manslaughter conviction when he allegedly shot Howard Dixon? It raises so many questions about the parole system and whether someone like Colvin should have been scrutinized or monitored more closely. The fact that he was apprehended hours after the incident, allegedly wandering just a few blocks away, also makes me wonder if he had any plan or if it was a spur-of-the-moment act. Howard Dixon seemed to be a guy who really cared about his community, being involved in those job training programs. It’s so unfair that someone who was making such a positive impact had his life cut short. I truly hope that Dixon’s friends and family can find some peace and that this case sparks some changes in how parolees are supervised. The whole situation makes me really think about how many other at-risk areas might have similar concerns. What do you all think?
