I've been following the case of Alexis Casarez, and something that's been on my mind lately is the role of guns in this situation. It's just devastating to think about how a single firearm can set off such a tragic chain of events. Kathy finding that gun in her daughter's dresser must have been terrifying for her, and it's understandable why she'd turn to someone she trusted, like Alexis. His attempt to de-escalate the situation sadly cost him his life. While we wait for justice to be served, it's hard not to reflect on how many lives have been impacted by this one incident. I can't help but feel for Alexis's family, especially knowing how much they’ve lost over something that maybe, in a different situation, could have been avoided. It's just a painful reminder of what violence can do to communities and how deeply it affects everyone involved. Keeping them in my thoughts as they navigate through the legal proceedings and hope they find some peace.
