Hey everyone, I’m still reeling from the details of Selina Godoy-Gonzales’ case. I can't stop thinking about how young Selina was and the fact that she was about to become a mom. It's so hard to fathom the kind of fear she and Carlos must have felt in those final moments. I hear that Jazmin Aviles was arrested for helping the suspects. It’s absurd and incredibly sad how some choose to protect those who bring so much harm to others. I wonder what drives people to get involved with these gangs in the first place—lack of opportunities, the need for belonging? It’s heartbreaking how these choices trickle down, devastating innocent lives and entire communities. I hope the attention on cases like this stirs more commitment from local leaders to fight this violence. We as a community need to stand together to demand safer streets and justice for victims like Selina and Carlos. My heart goes out to their families and friends. Stay safe, everyone.
