Has anyone else been following the Fernell Wilbright case? It's been on my mind a lot, especially considering the context of the violence in New Orleans back in 2014. The fact that Fernell's murder is unsolved is deeply unsettling. I can't help but think about his family and how difficult it must be for them, not knowing who is responsible or if justice will ever be served. It's alarming to see how the violence at that time, particularly in areas like the 5th and 7th districts, seemed to just keep escalating. When you look at the data, it's clear that young African American men were bearing the brunt of this violence, and Fernell's tragic death was part of a much larger pattern. I wonder what, if any, new leads have surfaced in the years since. Does anyone know if the NOPD has made any progress with cold cases from that period? I hope that attention isn't being lost even as time passes. Families like Fernell's deserve answers and closure.
