I recently read about the devastating loss of Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi in the K Street shooting and it left me thinking about how community support can truly make a difference in times like this. It's moving to see people rallying around the victims' families, especially Joshua's mother, Sherilyn. The pain they must be going through is unimaginable. I heard about the vigils and memorials being organized in Sacramento to remember those who were taken too soon. These gatherings seem to be more than just a tribute—they offer a space for collective mourning and a sign of solidarity against the violence that affected their community. It inspired a friend of mine to start a campaign focused on reducing gun violence in our own neighborhood, inspired by the advocacy efforts taking place in Sacramento. I’m hopeful these local efforts will spark broader awareness and action, addressing the issues that lead to such tragic events. I’d love to hear thoughts from others who have witnessed the power of community healing and change after such heartbreak and loss.
