I can’t help but think about the impact this case has had on the Fresno community and how it shakes your sense of safety, especially for those living near the area of Cornelia Avenue and Highway 99. I've read that this was the 38th murder in Fresno that year, and it just makes you realize how significant the issue of gun violence is in our city. Monte Jordan was only 20 – he had his whole life ahead of him. The thought of losing a loved one so suddenly, and to such senseless violence, is unimaginable. My heart goes out to his family and friends as they navigate this painful time. I am also struck by the extent of the investigation; 20+ search warrants is no small feat. You have to give some credit to law enforcement for piecing everything together and bringing in tips from the community. And I think it really shows what a wake-up call this is for neighborhood cooperation in these types of cases. Is there more we can do to prevent this kind of tragedy in the future? Supporting anti-violence initiatives or neighborhood watches might be a start. Thoughts?
