I've been following the case of Alfred Ayodele Myah closely, and I can't help but think about the impact this tragedy must have on the Grant Union High School community. Even if the students weren't directly involved, having such violence happen so close to home must be incredibly frightening and unsettling. I remember being at high school games and feeling safe in that environment, and it's awful to think that these students had to encounter trauma that evening. The fact that the game continued while all this was happening is surreal to me. It must have been a very confusing and distressing experience for those who sensed something was wrong. My heart goes out to all the students and staff who had to process this event. I hope the school and the community are receiving the support they need during this difficult time. It’s essential that they come together to foster healing and ensure that schools are sanctuaries of learning, not fear. If anyone from the community is reading this, please know that people from afar are thinking of you and sending strength your way.
