Reading about Patrolman George M. Sechler's selfless bravery during that fateful pursuit on April 14, 1907, truly leaves me in awe of the courage shown by law enforcement officers. It's mind-boggling to think about the split-second decisions he had to make, like when he shielded his partner, Patrolman Alfred Selleck, despite the danger to himself. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for him, yet he carried on with such a strong sense of duty. My heart goes out to Sechler’s family, as well as Selleck’s, who had to endure the loss of these two brave souls. It’s stories like these that remind us of the daily risks police officers take to keep us safe. George Sechler should be honored and remembered for his incredible sacrifice and valor.
