I can't stop thinking about the impact Patrolman Eugene Sheehan's death must have had on his colleagues and family. It's unimaginable to lose someone so suddenly and violently while they're just doing their job. The fact that he was only in the force for two years makes it all the more poignant. He was probably still learning the ropes and forming bonds with his fellow officers. In such a short time, it seems he left a meaningful mark, and his loss was surely felt deeply by those who worked alongside him. I wonder if the department did anything special to commemorate him or support his family during such a devastating time. It's a reminder of the sacrifices these officers make every day for our safety.
