I recently came across the case of Detective Ivan Lorenzo, and one detail that stood out to me was the survival of his two sons and widow after the tragedy. It must have been an incredibly challenging time for his family, navigating life without him. Losing a family member is a heavy burden, but losing someone who dedicated his life to protecting others must add another layer of complexity.
I wonder how this impacted his community as well. It speaks volumes about his character that a plaque was placed in his honor at the 94th Precinct. Such gestures offer a semblance of comfort, as they keep the memory of those we've lost alive. It's truly poignant to think about how his legacy continues to influence and inspire others. Sending thoughts of comfort and strength to his family and friends.
Hey everyone,
I came across a detail in Detective Ivan Lorenzo's case that I find incredibly puzzling. It’s about the delay in capturing Harry Richardson, the man who killed Detective Lorenzo. Richardson wasn't arrested until 1974 in Los Angeles, three years after the shooting!
Considering the fact that he fled the scene with Lorenzo's weapon and was involved in drug dealing, you would think an arrest would happen sooner, right? I just can't stop wondering what might have caused such a long gap. Was he hiding under the radar thanks to connections in the drug trade, or were there limitations in communication between states back then?
It's also haunting to think about the stress and unanswered questions Detective Lorenzo's family faced during those years when his killer was still out there. I truly hope they found some peace after his eventual arrest. What do you all make of this? Would love to hear your thoughts or any additional info you might have.
Stay safe, everyone.
Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Ivan Lorenzo's murder on his family, especially his two sons. It must have been incredibly difficult for them growing up without their father, knowing he was taken so suddenly and violently. The lives of those left behind can be overlooked when we talk about true crime, but they carry the loss every day. I read that a plaque was installed in his honor in the 94th Precinct in 1972. Knowing that there's a memorial for him might bring some solace to his family, but it's still just a small token compared to the profound loss they experienced. Anyone know if his widow or sons ever spoke publicly about him or their experience? It's heartbreaking to think about how this tragic event could shape their lives, and I hope they found strength and support from their community.
