Has anyone else looked into the impact this case had on how police investigations evolved? I’ve read that Donna Ann Lauria’s tragic death really shook law enforcement to the core and led to serious changes in approach. Prior to this, serial killings weren’t as clearly defined or understood. From what I’ve gathered, the "Son of Sam" case highlighted the need for better psychological profiling and collaboration between different police departments. It’s so sad that it took such horrific events to bring about these changes, but the hope is that these improvements could prevent future tragedies. My heart goes out to Donna’s family and friends—can't imagine the pain they have gone through. If anyone has more information or resources about the changes in investigative techniques due to this case, I'd love to learn more.
