I’ve been diving into Khaled Daoud’s case, and I find it incredibly unsettling how the DeMeo Crew operated with such impunity for so long. It’s disturbing to think that someone as seemingly legitimate as Daoud, who was just a used car dealer, could get caught up in such a dangerous web. The reputation of being tied to Roy DeMeo and his crew was terrifying, and yet these guys ran operations that seemed almost untouchable for years! It got me thinking about any other innocents or people not directly involved in crime but still considered threats by the Gambino family’s standards. How many people were wrongly targeted or lived in fear just because they were perceived as being on the “wrong side”? The lives impacted go far beyond just Daoud and Falcaro. Imagine their friends and family constantly looking over their shoulders, filled with fear, and knowing the potential threat that hung over them. I wonder if more could have been done to protect those like Daoud if the authorities had intervened earlier or had more resources. It’s both interesting and sad to see how the downfall of the Gambino operations eventually unfolded, but the cost of reaching that point was so high. Just my thoughts – would love to hear everyone else’s take on it.
