I recently started looking into the Edward Torres case from 1990, and one aspect that really stands out to me is the community rallying around his family over the years. From what I’ve read in various reports and community forums, residents in the neighborhood organized numerous vigils and walked in support of Edwards’s family, ensuring that his memory stayed alive and that there was pressure on authorities to keep the case active. The local community coming together shows such strength and compassion, and it’s clear their efforts helped in pushing the case forward. For anyone who lived in Brooklyn back then, do you remember these events or how they impacted the neighborhood? Would love to hear more personal accounts on that front. It’s incredible to see what a tight-knit community can achieve when they unite for justice and awareness.
Hi everyone,
I've been following the Edward Torres case for a while, and something that's been haunting me is the impact it must have had on the local Brooklyn community, especially during the years when the case was cold. I've read discussions about the impact on his family, but I haven't seen a lot about how his friends or neighbors coped with the uncertainty and fear that must have followed his tragic death.
It's really hard to imagine what it must have been like for those living nearby, constantly wondering if the person who committed such a violent act was still around. I think about the close-knit nature of neighborhoods, especially back in the '90s, and just how unsettling it would have been to lose a young person like Edward in such a brutal way.
If anyone here was around Brooklyn at that time or knew someone who was connected to Edward, how did the community respond? Were there any local efforts that emerged to support each other or work with law enforcement? I truly hope the resolution of the case brought some peace to both his loved ones and the community, but I can't help but think about those interim years filled with uncertainty.
Sending thoughts to all those who were impacted by this case... ?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,

Has anyone else noticed the impact of community pressure in the Edward Torres case? It seems like without the relentless push from neighbors and local advocacy groups, the investigation might never have reignited. I've been following this case for years, and it's a strong reminder of how communities can come together to seek justice for one of their own. The initial lack of progress must have been so frustrating for Edward's friends and family, but their persistence played a crucial role in keeping the search for answers alive. It's heartening to see how, despite the years of waiting and uncertainty, collective determination helped bring a resolution. Thinking of Edward's family as they continue to heal and hoping they find comfort in knowing that the perpetrator is finally held accountable.
