I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact inadequate security had on the tragic events of the St. Valentine’s Day massacre. It's deeply troubling to consider how easily the perpetrators were able to access the building. From what I've read, Edwin Santiago’s involvement in a drug dispute was the main driver for the attack, but it's hard to overlook the role of that broken door. It's incredibly sad that such a security lapse contributed to the loss of so many lives, including young Christopher Hernandez, who was just 15. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring our homes and communities are safe. My heart really goes out to the families who, after enduring unimaginable grief, had to grapple with the idea that this might have been preventable. I hope their story continues to raise awareness about building security and accountability in similar circumstances.
