Has anyone else been following the memorials for Officer Omar J. Edwards? It's incredibly moving to see how loved and respected he was by both his colleagues and the community. I read that they held a beautiful service for him, and it was touching to hear how they spoke of him not just as a dedicated officer, but as a beloved husband and father. He had so much more to give and it's devastating to think about the void left behind for his family. It feels especially tragic because he was doing what every good citizen would do in trying to protect what was his. I can’t help but think about the many lives he touched and how his story has brought to light a vital but painful discussion on policing and race. It's moments like these that remind us how precious life is and how much work still needs to be done to ensure safety for everyone, including those sworn to protect us. Thoughts and support go out to his family—they truly lost a hero.
