Reading about Catherine Marie D'Onofrio's tragic death just pulls at my heartstrings. I can't even start to imagine what her family and friends have endured since that awful night. I’ve been thinking about Melissa Simmons a lot; she was right there when everything unfolded. Not only did she lose a friend, but she also sustained injuries herself during such a traumatic event. It's so hard to wrap my head around how someone can go through something like that and come out the other side. I hope she has a strong network of support around her. Trauma doesn't just go away—even with time—and I truly wish healing for everyone involved, especially those like Melissa who witnessed the horror firsthand.
