I’ve been thinking about the impact this senseless act of violence has had on the neighborhood and the wider community. It’s scary to think about how an everyday moment quickly turned tragic in a place where people live their lives and raise their families. I didn’t know Mervin, but I can sense from the stories and testimonies shared that he played a significant role in his community. His friends and family, and even those of us who’ve just read about him, feel this loss deeply. I’m especially concerned about the other victims involved, particularly the young boy. Having to experience such trauma at such a young age—I can’t even begin to imagine what he’s going through. And the 64-year-old man, critically injured, highlights how indiscriminate and reckless these acts of violence truly are. My heart goes out to their families, and I hope they have all the support they need. Does anyone in the forum know if there have been any new developments in this case recently? It's been several years, and I really hope they find the person or people responsible. New Orleans deserves peace, and the families involved deserve justice and closure.
