It's been eight years since we lost Officer Randolph A. Holder, and his legacy is still strongly felt today. I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact his tragic passing has had on the policy discussions in NYC, especially regarding criminal justice reform. After the incident, there was such an outcry for stricter measures to deal with repeat offenders like Tyrone Howard. There's been a lot of debate on whether the judicial system should have been more stringent in handling offenders with long rap sheets. While it’s important to remember Officer Holder for his dedication and bravery, I also believe it’s crucial to continue discussing these systemic issues to hopefully prevent such tragedies in the future. Sending thoughts to Officer Holder's family and fellow officers who must still feel his loss every day.
