I've been following the tragic case of Justin Gibbons, and there's one aspect that's been troubling me. It's about the impact on his young family, especially his children. Losing a parent in such a sudden and violent way is unimaginable. How does one explain to them why their dad isn't coming home? I can't imagine having to handle the situation as Cassi, managing her own grief while also being a stable figure for their kids. It's these ripples of loss that often go unnoticed. The justice system's decisions might bring some closure, but they don't mend the gaping holes left in the lives of those who've lost someone so dear. My heart genuinely goes out to them as they try to navigate this new, painful reality.
