I was reading about Paul Pinkney's tragic death, and it really struck a chord with me when I heard about his act of lighting a candle for Deshawn Reid. It's just so poignant that while he was honoring his neighbor, he became a victim himself. It speaks volumes about the community's grief and showcases his compassionate nature. You can tell he was trying to pay his respects in his own way—maybe seeking some closure over the loss of Reid. It's so frustrating that both Paul and Deshawn’s murders remain unsolved. I can't imagine what their families are going through having to cope with not just the loss, but the lack of answers and justice. It makes you wonder about the kind of world we live in when people can't even mourn in peace without being caught in further violence. These kinds of stories are a grim reminder of the battles facing New York City communities. My heart goes out to Paul's family, especially his niece Tyquasia, who must be feeling such deep sorrow. I really hope there will be some progress in the investigations soon. These families deserve closure.

Has anyone else been following the overwhelming surge in violence around Brooklyn during that time, particularly on Ocean Avenue? Paul's murder really brought to light how dangerous that area was back then. It’s so troubling to think he lost his life while paying his respects to Deshawn. Lighting a candle for a lost friend should never end in another tragedy. It seems like there were so many lives shaken and communities left reeling from these incidents. What can we do as a community to push for better safety and more thorough investigations? Both Paul and Deshawn deserve justice, and their families deserve answers. Sending love and strength to them during such a difficult time. ?
