It's been over two years since we lost Sharf "David" Addalim, and I still find myself thinking about him and his family. I knew David from Mr. Sam Food Market—he was always there with a smile or a kind word, making our days just a bit brighter. His loss was a punch to the gut for so many of us in Albany. What I can't stop wondering about is how we can prevent something so tragic from happening again. This wasn't just a one-time event. The violence in the West Hill neighborhood feels like it's only getting worse. After all the community meetings and vigils, what's really changed? As much as we remember David for his kindness, we owe it to him and his family to push for safer streets and more outreach programs. I'd love to hear from anyone who's been involved in these efforts since this horrific event. Have you seen any improvements, or are we still at a standstill?
