Richard Raymond Omelak, known as Ricky or Ricki, was 18 when he left his home on Laurene Street in Fairbanks, Alaska, in the autumn of 1981 and was never heard from again. He was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The circumstances of his departure aren’t publicly detailed, and the official report to the Fairbanks Police Department was not filed until April 11, 1996, a decade and a half after he vanished.

The Alaska State Troopers also maintain a case file, and DNA samples from his mother and maternal half-brother have been processed and uploaded to national databases in hopes of matching unidentified remains. The investigation remains open with no public resolution.
