I've been thinking about the impact these unsolved cases have on victims' families, especially during the holiday season when their loved ones should be with them. Russell Whittington's family must feel an incredible void every year as they approach December, knowing there's still no resolution in sight. It must be incredibly hard to try and celebrate when there's an empty chair at the table and no closure to be found. The New Orleans Police Department is clearly overwhelmed with the number of cases from that period, but I hope they can still manage to find new ways to rekindle the investigation or inspire someone with even the slightest piece of information to come forward. It's crucial for the community to rally behind these families so they know they're not forgotten and that justice remains a priority.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been following Russell Whittington’s case since I first heard about it a couple of years back. I keep thinking about how difficult the holidays must be for his family every year since. It’s unsettling to think about how violence spikes in NOLA during what should be a season of joy. What’s really been troubling me is how Russell’s case seems to reflect a bigger issue in the city: the number of cold cases stacking up over time. And the stress on law enforcement is undeniable with limited leads and the deterioration of evidence.
I wonder if anyone here has seen updates on any special teams or cold case units stepping in to focus on these older cases? There have been advancements in forensic technology. Could any of these tools be utilized to re-examine what evidence they have for Russell’s case and others from that period? If anyone here happens to know or has ideas on what more can be done, it could help rally some more attention to keep these cases from being forgotten. His family deserves answers for their loss, and his memory deserves justice. Let's keep talking and pushing for awareness.
