I recently stumbled upon the case of Jess Willard Gilbert and Vernon Nash, and something that's been nagging at me is the weather conditions on the day they went missing. Does anyone know if there were reports of storms or rough seas in the Gulf around January 26, 1985? I feel like understanding the weather might give some insight into what happened. I've seen cases where unexpected weather played a big role in marine disappearances. Maybe someone with local knowledge or archives access could shed light on this aspect? Any thoughts or info would be appreciated!
Has anyone else looked into the weather conditions on the day Jess and Vernon went missing? I've read a few articles from that time, and it seemed like the weather that weekend was unexpectedly rough. This might have seriously affected their trip, especially if they got caught up in a sudden storm or strong currents. I came across some archive weather reports that suggested high winds on the 27th, which could have complicated their return. Does anyone have more info on whether the Coast Guard considered weather conditions during their initial search? It's odd that there's so little discussed about it in most write-ups. Could the weather have played a bigger role than we think?
