Hi everyone,
I'm really struggling to wrap my head around the tragic events surrounding Mark Bergum and his family. What really gets me is how close-knit they all seemed. I've read about how Mark was actively involved in his grandchildren's lives. I can't imagine what those kids are going through now, losing so many close family members in an instant. It's just unimaginable.
Mark’s love for hiking and nature makes me think that he might have been a guiding presence for his family, always encouraging them to explore and enjoy life. I've read a few comments about how important he was to his community, too. For a man who spent years scaling mountains and guiding his family, to have his life end this way is just beyond comprehension.
I think it highlights a truth we often don’t want to face—sometimes, there are no signs or warnings, and it’s hard to understand why these things happen at all. My heart truly goes out to those kids and to anyone who loved Mark, Nancy, or Mary Beth. I hope we can find some answers that might offer a sliver of closure.

I stumbled upon this case yesterday, and I can't stop thinking about the note found in Erik's car. Although it detailed some timeline aspects of that awful day, the fact that it didn’t reveal any motive is so perplexing and haunting. With no clear clues pointing to why Erik did what he did, it leaves so many unanswered questions for those left to deal with the aftermath. It makes you wonder if there were hidden struggles he was facing, or if there were unspoken issues in the family that no one picked up on. My heart goes out to those grandchildren who have to grow up carrying this weight. I hope they’re getting the support they need to eventually find some peace. Has anyone heard if there's been any additional information on the note or other insights from the investigation? It feels like there has to be something more beneath the surface.
