I read about Raelynn's case recently, and something that's been weighing on my mind is the role of the vacant apartment building where the shooting occurred. It's so disturbing to think about how spaces like these become hotspots for tragic events. Why are these kinds of places not secured better? It seems like they can become dangerous when left unchecked. Raelynn was just starting out; she had her whole life ahead of her. Knowing she was in a place like that, thinking she was just spending some time with friends, is really troubling. My heart goes out to her family and friends. It's tragic how a space meant to be unused ended up being the site of such a devastating loss. Just makes you wish these abandoned places were dealt with more seriously to prevent such gatherings and tragedies.
