Reading about the tragic loss of Deputy Sheriff Jason Charles Schwenz really brings to light the unpredictable danger that law enforcement officers face daily. One thing that doesn't get mentioned much in cases like this is the impact on the suspect's family, especially his mother. She must carry an immense burden knowing her son was involved in such a senseless act. It must be incredibly difficult to come to terms with the loss of life on both sides. I can't imagine the confusion and grief she's been through since that day. No family should have to experience such heartache, and I hope she found some peace in the years following this horrible event. Sending heartfelt support to all the families touched by this tragedy. They continue to remain in my thoughts.
