I’ve been thinking a lot about how James "Jimmy" McBride was just starting a new chapter in New Orleans before his life was tragically cut short. Moving from Iowa full of hopes and aspirations for a promising future in such a vibrant city, only for it to end like this is deeply saddening. It’s a harsh reminder of how life can change in an instant, especially for those working jobs that many of us might not fully appreciate the dangers of. I can’t help but think of his family and friends back in Iowa. The void they must be feeling without him there, his bright smile and dedication to his career now just another painful memory. It must be really difficult to come to terms with the senselessness of such a violent act. I've read that the community stepped up with a significant reward to catch those responsible, and I genuinely hope they find some peace knowing that justice took its course. Jimmy’s story certainly makes me appreciate those who risk their safety to ensure ours, and I hope the community will continue to support his loved ones in any way they can.
