Did anyone else find it curious that Elter "Jack" Deshotel never took any ID with him during his trip to pick huckleberries? I know it might not have been common to carry ID back then, especially if you’re just heading out to a nearby spot like Little Mill Creek, but it seems odd given the circumstances. If you were planning on just going for the day, wouldn’t you want some form of identification on you? Maybe it’s nothing, but I wonder if it suggests he wasn't planning to be gone long or if something interrupted him unexpectedly. I hope the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office keeps this in mind as they investigate. It’s these little details that can sometimes crack a case wide open.
