I was just reading up again on the Teresa and David Moore case from 1989, and something struck me about the decision they made not to wear life jackets. It seems like such a risky choice, especially knowing the water conditions can be unpredictable. Was there something about that specific trip that made them feel overly confident or maybe even anxious to the point of making a hasty decision?
I know not everyone back then took safety gear as seriously as we do today, but it's strange how little focus there was on water safety in that era, especially for adults who were experienced enough to canoe. Does anyone have insight or theories on why they might've opted out of wearing them? Were there any local stories or mindsets about canoeing safety around that time? It's baffling when you think about the fact that their bodies were never found after such an extensive search.
