I’ve been following Mylan Lassai’s case, and one thing that really stood out to me was how his mother spoke during that council meeting. Hearing about her bravery and composure while dealing with such immense loss is just unreal. It’s such an important reminder of the human cost of gun violence—Mylan wasn’t just a statistic, he was her son, with a whole future ahead of him. The fact that no arrests have been made is incredibly frustrating. The community needs to come together and push for more transparency and action from the NOPD. Maybe if we all keep bringing attention to this case—the way Mylan’s family has been trying to do—we can help ensure that justice comes not just for them but for all families grappling with similar tragedies in New Orleans. My heart truly goes out to everyone impacted by this senseless violence, and I hope they find some peace knowing that their voices are being heard.
