I've been following the Stephen Vaise case for a while now, and it just gets more upsetting the more you learn about it. I recently read through some of the court documents and couldn't help but feel for Stephen’s brother, Thomas. Imagine having to report your own family’s involvement in such a tragedy. It must have been incredibly difficult for him to go to the police, knowing it could lead to his nephew’s arrest, but he did what was necessary to seek justice for his brother. The fact that Thomas hadn’t seen Stephen for three days must have been gut-wrenching—his alarm bells going off when Matthew broke into his home was an act of bravery in itself. My heart goes out to him and the rest of the family, who must still be coping with this terrible loss. I hope Thomas has found some peace, and I admire his courage and integrity during such an incredibly difficult time.
