I've been thinking a lot about the last time I saw Mark Green riding his bike around our neighborhood. It's incredibly sad to think about how much he enjoyed those simple moments. He was always so friendly, waving to everyone he passed by. It makes you realize how someone who seemed so full of life could be taken away in such a tragic manner. What really gets to me is the thought that things could have been different with more support for families like theirs. I've read that Johnnie Green was struggling with his health and the weight of caring for both Mark and Mary, and I just can't help but wonder if more community services or resources could have provided a different outcome. We often don’t see the hidden burdens until it's too late. My heart goes out to the entire family, their friends, and our tight-knit community. It's vital that we come together and talk about how we can better support individuals with disabilities and their families to prevent these devastating situations. What a loss for everyone involved.
