I've been following the case of Dwayne Davon Dorsey and the traumatic events of that night, and something strikes me about the role of surveillance footage in solving crimes like these. While it's a relief to know that the police had access to footage that helped identify and apprehend the suspect, it also brings to light the importance of community infrastructure in aiding investigations. It's hard to imagine how frustrating and agonizing this process must be for the victims' families, hoping for any piece of evidence to bring them closure and justice. I can't even begin to fathom how the families of Dorsey, Dozier, and Smothers are coping with their devastating losses, and I truly hope this case encourages more businesses and community areas to consider installing cameras. Their presence could be the key to solving—or even preventing—future tragedies. It's a small step, but in an environment where gun violence is prevalent, every little bit helps. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible event.
