I’ve been thinking a lot about Stefon “Rico” Cook’s case. One thing that really bothers me is how little we hear about witnesses coming forward. It’s so tragic that so many cases like his seem to stall because people are afraid or unwilling to speak up. I understand fear can silence communities, but it’s heartbreaking that his family might still be waiting for answers because of this silence. I can’t imagine the pain they’re going through—waiting and hoping for some news that might lead to justice. Does anyone know if there’s been any new initiatives in Baltimore to encourage community members to share what they know in a safe way? It feels like that could be a crucial step in closing painful chapters for families like the Cooks. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Rico.
