I’ve been thinking about the ripple effect tragedies like Officer Comegna’s death have on the community. It seems so many people were impacted deeply by his kindness and dedication at Eastern Tech. I've read a few posts and comments from students who mentioned how he always made them feel safe or was there to lend an ear when they needed someone. It makes me wonder, are schools and police departments doing enough to support the mental health of those who serve as resource officers? They're in such a unique and challenging position, bridging the gap between law enforcement and education. I can only imagine the pressures they face daily. Does anyone know if there’s been any push for more mental health resources or training for SROs since this happened? My heart goes out to his family, students, and colleagues. It's such a heavy loss for anyone who knew him or was impacted by his presence.
