I've been following the Filomena Vasquez case and something that really stands out to me is the senselessness of the violence. I can't stop thinking about how she was just sitting at her kitchen table, reading her Bible—a daily routine for so many. It's a reminder of how fragile life can be and how someone's reckless actions can shatter the peace of a home and a community. It's hard not to wonder about the ripple effects on her family. They sold a car, a normal business transaction, and it ended up tied to such a tragedy. I imagine there must be a lot of blame and what-ifs going through their minds, which is just agonizing. Remembering Filomena as more than just a victim is important; she was a grandmother, a mother, and a part of her community. Warren's sentencing will hopefully bring some measure of justice, but I know it can't heal the wounds left behind. I'm thinking about the family a lot and hoping they find strength and support from friends and neighbors during this unbelievably tough time.
