I've been following the case of Zaire Saiyan Winter Drake-Cummings, and I can't stop thinking about the impact this has on his loved ones. I read that Zaire was only 19 and from Baltimore—so incredibly young with a whole future ahead of him. The neighborhood where the shooting happened, near Rolling Road and Church Lane, must be reeling from this tragic event. It's hard to come to terms with the fact that one moment could change so many lives. I wonder how the community is holding up and how Zaire's family is coping with such a huge loss. It's comforting to know that there are detectives working tirelessly to find what led up to this incident and that the community is being urged to share any information they might have. Hopefully, justice will be served, and those close to Zaire will find some comfort in the support they have around them. It's a sober reminder of how fragile life is and how deeply violence can cut through our communities.
