I still think about Valdez and how his life was taken way too soon. It’s just awful to imagine how his family and friends must feel, having to relive that terrible day over and over. Something that caught my attention was the role the basketball court played in this tragedy. Events unfolded so quickly; one moment it was a place for fun and community, and the next, it became a crime scene. I wonder if the people who were there that day, especially the kids, have had any support or counseling afterwards. It must have been so terrifying for them to witness that in their neighborhood park. My heart goes out to everyone who knew him and had to go through such a traumatic experience. It’s important for communities to come together and support each other after events like this.

I just stumbled across this case about Valdez Rico Baker III, and it really hit me hard. I can't stop thinking about how young he was—only 19 years old—and with such a promising future ahead of him. I read somewhere that he was playing basketball with friends when it happened, which makes it even more devastating. Parks are supposed to be safe spaces where you hang out with friends without fearing for your life. This makes me think about how community spaces can turn into sites of violence so unexpectedly. It must be incredibly challenging for the community and especially for his friends and family who witnessed it. I hope they're finding some support and healing. It's reassuring to see that the legal system worked toward serving justice by swiftly capturing the suspects and holding them accountable. Still, no sentence can ever bring back a life, and it feels like such a senseless loss. I'm wondering how the local community has been coping and if there have been any gatherings or support groups to help them through this. Sending thoughts to everyone affected by this tragedy.
