Edward's case has always stuck with me. It's another reminder of how many families are left without answers in our community. I lived near that area back in 2011, and I remember feeling the tension in the neighborhood that year. The night Edward was found, there was a collective sense of sorrow—and a bit of anxiety—in the air. Everyone knew that it could have been their child, their friend.
One thing that really baffles me is the lack of witnesses. 28th and Congress isn't exactly a deserted place, even late at night. How could this have happened with no one seeing anything? Is there more to the story? It's frustrating to think that a young man's life was cut short and we still don't have answers.
I really feel for Edward's family. No one should have to wake up each day with the hope that today might be the day they find out what happened. Let's keep pushing for more attention on these unsolved cases. Keeping the dialogue open might lead someone to come forward with that missing puzzle piece.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Edward Reyes case, and I feel so deeply for his family and community. What truly baffles me is how there were no witnesses or anyone who came forward, especially since 28th and Congress Alley isn’t exactly in the middle of nowhere. I know the stigma of "snitching" can be strong in some neighborhoods, but all I can think about is how Edward's family deserves answers. If there was someone who saw something but is afraid to come forward, maybe there are ways to do it anonymously?
I’ve read about community initiatives aimed at fostering trust between locals and law enforcement, and I can't stress enough how important these can be. These initiatives could potentially help break down those barriers that prevent people from sharing what they know. It’s frustrating that fear can hold people back, and I just hope that anyone who might have seen or heard something comes forward, so Edward’s family can finally start to find some peace.
Thoughts? Has anyone heard updates on these initiatives?
Stay safe, everyone.
