I’ve been reading more about the Chiquola Mill Massacre, and I can’t stop thinking about the impact on C. R. Rucker’s family. It must have been incredibly difficult for them to not only lose a loved one but to see so many others in their community affected by this tragedy. The fact that this horrifying event was kept in silence for so long adds another layer of grief. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the families back then, not receiving the justice or recognition they deserved for so many decades. If anyone has more information on how families of victims coped or organized in the aftermath, I’d be interested to learn about it. It's important to keep these stories alive and honor those who paid such a high price in their fight for workers' rights.
