Was anyone else aware that Steven White was an experienced diver and kayaker? It's been noted that he often took solo trips like this, which makes me wonder if complacency might have played a role. Sometimes, familiarity can lead to overlooking potential dangers. It's odd that only his backpack was found without any other gear or trace of him. Makes you think about those strong currents around La Perouse Bay. Did the ocean somehow consume all traces of his gear? Maybe someone familiar with the area could shed some light on how easy it would be for things to vanish so completely in those waters.
Has anyone else looked into the weather conditions around Makena, Hawaii on June 12, 2011? I'm wondering if there were any unusual currents or weather patterns at the time that might have impacted Steven White's kayaking and diving plans. Ocean conditions can change so quickly, and I can't help but think that something like that could have played a role in what happened. If anyone has any insight into how local weather might have affected his journey, it could provide some crucial context. It’s so frustrating that the backpack was found but nothing else. Thoughts?
Hey everyone, I've been following Steven White's case for a while, and something that's been bugging me is the email he sent his daughter. If he planned to go kayaking and diving solo, I'm curious about what safety gear he might have mentioned or if he talked about his diving experience at all. It seems like such a risky activity to do alone, especially in a place as vast as the waters off Maui. Does anyone know if there's been any mention of his experience level or if he had any GPS or emergency equipment with him? It just seems odd for someone to vanish without a trace with only a floating backpack found, and I wonder if maybe more details about his plans could provide some clues.
