Hi everyone. I’ve been following Astrid Haynes’ case closely and found myself reflecting a lot on the incredible amount of courage her family has shown throughout this ordeal. In particular, I wanted to highlight how Astrid's father, Daniel, has been so vocal in seeking justice for his daughter’s senseless murder. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for him to simultaneously grieve and also explain such a tragedy to his young grandson. It's clear how deeply he cared for Astrid and how challenging it must be to balance his sorrow with the need to be strong for his family.
The way Astrid's life was taken is truly tragic, and gun violence is a menace that haunts too many communities. Astrid was clearly someone who gave so much of herself to others—between being a loving mom, running her own care service, and furthering her education.
