I've been following the case of Darryl Hunte, and I keep thinking about the harrowing experience that those inside the house must have gone through that night. It must have been terrifying for Darryl's family and friends, especially with children present at the time. Being in the supposed safety of your own home, only to have violence intrude so suddenly, is unimaginable. My heart goes out to them as they cope with such a traumatic event. I'm grateful that justice was served with Whidby's conviction, but it still feels like there's so much more work needed to make our communities safer from these acts of violence. How do we as a society protect the innocent from being caught in these crossfires?

Anyone else feeling completely horrified by how random and meaningless this tragedy was? The fact that Darryl Hunte was just inside his home, probably winding down for the night, and then suddenly he's gone—it's terrifying. What stands out to me is how vulnerable this makes us all feel. People should be safe in their own homes, right? And to think there were kids in the house at the time of the shooting... I can't even imagine how traumatic that must have been for them. I hope they’re getting the support they need to process all of this. It just seems like a really tight-knit community, and it must be so hard for them to come to terms with what happened and the impact it’s undoubtedly left on their sense of security. Just so senseless. I hope Darryl's family is healing as best as they can under these circumstances. Sending them all the positive thoughts and love as they navigate this tragedy.
