Seeing another young life lost in this tragic way is truly distressing. It's even more painful when you think about Keith Smith's family and friends, left without answers or justice. I've read that 2016 was a particularly violent year in Oakland, with gun violence spiking in East Oakland where Keith was killed. It just seems like these senseless acts of violence are all too common, but each one has its own ripple effect on the community. I can't help but wonder what can be done differently to break this cycle and bring peace to the area. My thoughts are with everyone affected by Keith's loss, and I hope they find some comfort and strength during these difficult times.
