I wanted to share some thoughts on the tragic loss of Nathaniel Reid. From what I’ve gathered about his life, it makes one wonder how such a positive force in his community could be taken away so abruptly. Nathaniel seemed to have been a pillar in Greeleyville, not only in his professional life as a dedicated construction worker but also through his activities and faith as a member of Long Branch United Methodist Church.
I’m particularly struck by how much he cherished his family and how deeply connected he was to each of them—not just his wife and kids but his wide circle of brothers, sisters, and extended family. It’s clear that his love for them was immense, and that loss must be unbearable now.
As someone who enjoys the outdoors myself, reading about Nathaniel's passions for hunting and fishing made me feel like he could’ve easily been a friend. It breaks my heart to see such a kind individual, who genuinely enjoyed life and helping others, be caught in a senseless act of violence.
I hope the authorities can soon piece together the events of that day. In the meantime, my thoughts are with the Reid family and everyone who knew him. Let’s keep sharing his story and supporting each other through this difficult time.
