I was reading about the candlelight vigil held for Jamez Sweat, and it struck me how the community came together to honor him and advocate against gun violence. Hearing about the stories shared by Jamez's friends and family, I can’t help but feel the depth of their loss. His aunt’s words really resonated with me, describing him as a “good kid” taken too soon. It's a stark reminder of how gun violence robs us of young lives full of potential. I also noticed the ongoing discussion around the lack of arrests or suspects in his case. It must be incredibly frustrating for his family and community to be left without answers or justice. It's encouraging to see the community rallying, hoping to spark some momentum in this investigation. I sincerely hope for some breakthroughs soon. Anyone else scared about the idea of another year going by without justice? Also, if anyone is interested in helping out, I saw there's a GoFundMe to assist with Jamez’s burial costs. I think small contributions can show his family that they are not alone in this struggle. Sending thoughts of strength to his loved ones and hoping for some resolution and peace for them all.
